This Week in Faversham: Summer Fun, Pride and Plums Aplenty

21 July 2026 · Faversham.info

From a summer full of orchard adventures at Brogdale to the return of Faversham Pride, there's plenty to fill the diary. Here's what's been happening lately and what's on the horizon.

It's been a lively few weeks in and around town. Faversham Life took readers on a jaunt to nearby Herne Bay, a reminder that some of the loveliest days out are only a short hop away. Closer to home, the Town Council has refreshed its Family Food Map for the summer holidays, a handy resource if you're looking to keep everyone fed and happy through the long break.

There's also a chance to give something back. The Town Council is looking for volunteers aged 50 or over to become Age Friendly Ambassadors, helping to make Faversham an even better place to grow older. If you have a little time and local knowledge to share, it's well worth a look. Meanwhile, history buffs enjoyed a real treat when Brian Philp, who led the 1965 archaeological digs at Faversham Abbey, visited to share first-hand memories of the excavations and what they revealed about the Abbey's remarkable scale, courtesy of The Faversham Society.

Looking ahead, the weekend of 24-25 July is a busy one. Friday Night Live returns to Macknade Fine Foods on the 24th with Georgie Taylor, before Saturday brings the ever-popular Faversham Charter Market to Market Place. That same day, Faversham Pride takes over the West Faversham Community Centre, a warm, welcoming celebration for all.

August is shaping up beautifully, particularly for families. The Faversham Safari sets off across town on Sunday 2 August, followed by Family Jam-boree Days on Front Brents Green on the 4th. Brogdale Collections is the place to be for anyone with young explorers: there's Wild Classroom: Outdoor Cooking (6 Aug), Kids' Juicing (11 Aug), an Orchard Orienteering Workshop (14 Aug) and Beastie Days at Brogdale Farm (20 Aug).

Plum season really comes into its own this month, too. The Brogdale Plum Weekend takes over Brogdale Farm on 15 and 16 August, a fitting nod to the town's orchard heritage. Music lovers aren't left out either, with more Friday Night Live sessions at Macknade featuring The Big Flava Band Trio (7 Aug) and the Decades Showband (28 Aug).

Rounding off the month, Mount Ephraim Gardens hosts A New Day Festival on 21 August, and St Mary of Charity Church welcomes the Marsh Family Concert on the 22nd. Whatever your taste, market mooching, live music, orchard adventures or a quiet moment of local history, there's something to enjoy right on your doorstep. Do check individual venues for timings and any booking details before you head out.
