Faversham.info is an independent local guide for Faversham, Kent. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under UK data-protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). What we collect and why

• Business directory information — names, addresses, contact details and locations of local businesses, sourced from public data (see “Where listing data comes from”).
• Enquiries — when you send an enquiry to a business through our relay form we collect your name, email, phone (optional) and message, and forward them to that business so it can reply to you. We ask for your consent before sending.
• Business claims & accounts — if you claim or manage a listing we collect your name, email and phone to verify you and to let you sign in.
• Newsletter — your email address, if you subscribe (double opt-in; unsubscribe any time).
• Event submissions & correction requests — the details you provide.
• Basic usage analytics — we record anonymous, aggregate counts of page and contact interactions (first-party only). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Lawful basis

We rely on your consent (enquiries, newsletter), the performance of a contract or steps you request (claims, accounts, paid listings), and our legitimate interests in running and improving a useful local directory.

Who we share it with

We share enquiry details with the business you contact. We use trusted service providers to run the site — hosting, our email provider, and Stripe for payments (we never see or store your card details). We do not sell your personal data.

Where listing data comes from

Business information is derived from public sources including OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and Google. Listing descriptions are generated from that public data and reviewed before publication. If anything about your business is wrong, use the “Request an update or removal” link on the listing.

Retention

We keep account and claim data while your listing is managed with us, enquiry records only as long as needed to relay and support the conversation, and newsletter data until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, object to processing, or withdraw consent, by emailing hello@faversham.info. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We set a single strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms (CSRF). No consent banner is required for this. We do not use advertising cookies.
