This Week in Faversham: Local News and What's On
28 July 2026 · Faversham.info
From a police community surgery on Preston Street to a plum-packed summer at Brogdale, here's what's been happening in Faversham and what's coming up.
It's been a quieter week on the news front, but there's plenty worth flagging. On Monday, PC Gary Morris held a Kent Police Community Surgery at The Alexander Centre on Preston Street. These drop-in sessions are a good chance to speak directly to your local officer about whatever's on your mind, so it's worth catching the next one.
History buffs, meanwhile, will have enjoyed hearing from Brian Philp, who led the 1965 excavations at Faversham Abbey and Roman Villa. He visited to share first-hand memories of those digs, including what they revealed about the sheer scale of the Abbey — a reminder of just how much lies beneath our town. Over at Faversham Life, there's also a gentle write-up of a jaunt to neighbouring Herne Bay if you fancy a change of scene.
Looking ahead, August opens in familiar style with the Faversham Charter Market at Market Place on Saturday 1st, followed the next day by the Faversham Safari taking place across town on Sunday 2nd. On Tuesday 4th, families can head to Front Brents Green for the Family Jam-boree Days.
Brogdale is the real hub of activity this month. The Wild Classroom: Outdoor Cooking session runs on Thursday 6th August. There's Kids' Juicing on Tuesday 11th, an Orchard Orienteering Workshop on Friday 14th, and the ever-popular Plum Weekend across Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th. Later in the month you'll find Beastie Days on Thursday 20th and the Brogdale Cider Festival on Saturday 29th — something for every taste, quite literally.
Live music fans are well served too. Macknade Fine Foods hosts Friday Night Live with The Big Flava Band Trio on Friday 7th August, and again with the Decades Showband on Friday 28th. For something more classical, the Marsh Family Concert takes place at St Mary of Charity Church on Saturday 22nd.
Further ahead, keep an eye on Mount Ephraim Gardens for A New Day Festival on Friday 21st August, and note that the Faversham Hop Festival Fringe Opening Night is pencilled in for Friday 4th September across various pubs and venues. As always, it's worth double-checking times with organisers before you set off — but whatever your interests, there's no shortage of ways to enjoy Faversham this summer.
